Dr. Todd Adamson, PsyD, ABPP, CMPC is a board-certified clinical psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant in Los Angeles and Atlanta, and the founder of Elite Psychology Group. With over 20 years of experience, he works with individuals, couples, families, and athletes to address the full range of psychological challenges — from anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship difficulties, life transitions, and performance psychology.

Dr. Adamson holds board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), and a Diplomate designation from the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. He is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. He brings a rare combination of clinical depth and applied performance expertise to his work with athletes and high-performing adults in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
His clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, psychodynamic therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is a trained Gottman Method couples therapist and holds expertise in Parent Management Training for families navigating behavioral and developmental challenges with children and adolescents.

Dr. Adamson has extensive experience treating complex trauma and PTSD. He is a nationally recognized expert in virtual reality therapy for trauma, serving as a consultant for VA clinicians across the United States on the Bravemind virtual reality platform — one of the most advanced evidence-based treatments for combat-related PTSD currently in clinical use. He previously served as Associate Medical Director of Psychiatry at Science 37, where he led the development of virtual clinical trials in psychiatry.

His sport and performance psychology practice serves athletes and high-performing adults at every level of competition — from youth and collegiate athletes to elite professionals and high-functioning adults navigating performance demands in sport, business, and life. His work in this area is informed by his own background as a competitive athlete, classical musician, and long-form improv performer — experiences that gave him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to perform under pressure across very different domains.

Dr. Adamson's academic credentials reflect the depth and breadth of his expertise. He holds a B.A. from the University of Georgia, an M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, and an M.S. in Kinesiology with a specialization in Applied Sport Psychology from Adams State University. He has held faculty appointments at USC and Antioch University, conducted clinical research at the Long Beach VA Medical Center, and has taught and supervised the next generation of clinical and sport psychologists throughout his career.

Dr. Adamson sees clients in person in Los Angeles (West LA) and Atlanta (Decatur), and offers telehealth services to clients throughout California and Georgia.

Finding the right therapist can be a challenging task for many people. I strive to be understanding, compassionate, and comprehensive in my approach. Healing is not linear, and no two journeys look the same. My approach is rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and a deep respect for the courage it takes to show up and do this work. Whether you are navigating disordered eating, performance pressure, or the weight of high expectations, I am here to help you untangle what is holding you back and reconnect with your values and strengths. Together, we will set meaningful goals, build practical tools, and work toward a relationship with yourself, your body, and your life that feels sustainable and true to who you are.

I specialize in eating disorder therapy in Los Angeles for adolescents and adults, with a particular focus on female athletes and high-performing women struggling with disordered eating, body image concerns, and performance-related pressure. I also work with couples and with children and adolescents navigating emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.
I work with individuals experiencing anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, chronic dieting, and body dissatisfaction. I incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process the underlying trauma and shame that often drive disordered eating and negative body image — supporting healing that goes beyond symptom relief. My approach is non-judgmental and collaborative, helping clients build sustainable, values-aligned relationships with food, movement, and self.

For female athletes, I provide therapy for performance anxiety, burnout, injury recovery, and sport-related identity concerns. As a former Division I track and cross-country athlete, I understand firsthand the pressure to balance achievement with well-being. I use EMDR alongside sport and performance psychology principles to help athletes process perfectionism, performance trauma, and identity challenges in and beyond sport.

In couples therapy, I support partners in rebuilding communication, repairing trust, and navigating the relational strain that often accompanies high-achievement pressure, and life transitions. With children and adolescents, I create a warm, developmentally informed space to address anxiety, school stress, social difficulties, and the unique pressures facing young athletes and high-achieving teens.

My work is grounded in a systemic, strengths-based approach — exploring how anxiety, perfectionism, and identity interact with eating, body image, and relationships. Therapy focuses on self-awareness, values clarification, and practical tools for long-term emotional health.

I hold a B.S. in Psychology with minors in Public Health and Chemistry, and an M.S. in Couples and Family Therapy. I offer both in-person and telehealth therapy throughout Los Angeles.

I'm a therapist working with children, teens, adults, and families in West Los Angeles and through telehealth across California. Much of my practice is devoted to my youngest clients and the people who love them, kids and adolescents who are anxious, shut down, acting out, or carrying more than they yet have words for, and the parents and siblings trying to understand what they're going through.

My work is rooted in trauma-informed care: an approach that honors each person's history and recognizes how difficult experiences shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others.
Therapy for children and teens. With younger clients, healing often happens through play and art rather than asking them to explain feelings they can't yet name. I have training in play therapy and art therapy, which give children — and adults who find words insufficient — a safe way to express and work through what they've experienced.

DBT-informed skills for teens and adults.
With older teens and adults, I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and draw on DBT-informed skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and steadying relationships that have become strained.

Family therapy and parent support. Families are often at the center of this work. When a child is struggling, I help parents move from feeling helpless to feeling equipped — strengthening attachment, repairing communication, and building a home where everyone feels a little more understood.

I work with individuals and families across a range of concerns, including stress and burnout, trauma and PTSD, attachment difficulties, and the distinct experiences of neurodivergent children and adults.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from UC Santa Barbara and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. That blend of humanistic and clinical training shapes how I show up with clients: with curiosity, steady attention, and a real belief in each person's capacity to grow and heal.

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Whether you're a parent worried about your child, a teen who feels unseen, or an adult working through old wounds, I tailor each step to the person in front of me, drawing on creativity, evidence-based tools, and genuine human connection to support change that lasts.
