May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May 5, 2025

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time dedicated to increasing understanding, breaking stigma, and encouraging open conversations around mental health.

While it can feel like every month brings awareness to a different cause, mental health is something that affects all of us—every day of the year. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. We are whole beings, and recognizing the mind-body connection is key to overall well-being. When we understand how our thoughts, emotions, and physical bodies interact, we can begin to use tools like mindfulness, breath-work, and other self-regulation techniques to calm the nervous system, release stress, and foster a sense of safety and connection.

Mental Health Awareness Month serves as an opportunity to:

  • Educate ourselves and others about mental health conditions,

  • Break down the stigma that still surrounds them,

  • Encourage those struggling to seek help without shame,

  • And remind everyone that they are not alone.

This month—and every month—is a chance to check in on ourselves and others, advocate for more accessible care, and share stories that inspire healing and hope. Each voice matters. Every story has the power to make a difference.

Promoting mental wellness also means embracing what makes each of us unique, including our lived experiences. Building a supportive community is vital in creating a culture where mental health is prioritized and everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Let May be a reminder: mental health matters—today and always.
